One Month

Today my sweet Aubrey girl you are one month old! I can't believe how quickly this time has passed. It seems like a couple days ago I was laying in bed feeling you wiggle and squirm while I was going to sleep.

Aubrey you are such a sweet and content baby. You only cry when you are hungry or tired. You love to nap and do so well at night. You get up twice at night to eat and always go right back to sleep. I consider it a blessing from God. I remember how hard a fussy baby can be and am so grateful that your contentment has made the transition to two children as smooth as it can be.

Your big sister loves you to pieces and you are so sweet to let her kiss and hug all over you! All that to say you can put up a good fight grunting and swinging your arms when you have had your fair share of loving! You are starting to look at Ashlyn and react to her when she talks to you. I think you two are going to be best friends!

You are growing so fast! You now weigh 8lbs 13oz. You have outgrown several of your outfits and I have started to put you in several 0-3 month outfits. I also had to buy a different brand of diapers because you outgrew your current newborn diapers but the size 1 were too big.

I love you dearly sweet girl!

Pumpkin Patch

This afternoon we went to the Pumpkin Patch. We went to the same place last year and it was so much fun. They have a huge area for the kids to walk out and pick their own pumpkins and also a hay ride. Ashlyn got to pick out four pumpkins, one for each of us. So we got a big daddy pumpkin, a smaller mommy one, a little Ashlyn one, and a tiny Aubrey one. She was so proud of her pumpkins. They have wagons to pull your pumpkins around in and she insisted on pulling the wagon by herself! Mind you the wagon has four pumpkins in it and it has rained like crazy around here so there are lots of ruts in the ground, definitely not an easy task but she was determined. If I tried to help or even touch the wagon she would tell me "don't do that, I do it myself". We have a short video of it, it makes me laugh. (I'm sure it will give my mother flashbacks when she watches it) If you are on Facebook you can hop over there and check it out. It takes sooo long to upload videos on here and time is not something I have an abundance of any more!

I don't think Aubrey even knew she was at the pumpkin patch. She was so snuggled up and cozy in her carrier!

Look at these pictures of Ashlyn last year and this year sitting on a pumpkin. That is enough to make a mommy cry!

Our new life

This week is starting to feel a little more normal, notice I said a little. Last week I felt like I was just treading water keeping everyone bathed, fed, and in one piece. I am starting to adjust to our new routines and am figuring out how to work around Aubrey's schedule. I am still taking an afternoon nap daily which is the only way I can function in the afternoon. I am anxious to get to the point where a nap is a luxury I can choose to take, not a necessity. I hate feeling like I could accomplish so much more if I could just bypass the nap. But, I know a happy wife and mommy are more important than a spotless house right now.

Aubrey was three weeks old yesterday. I'm afraid to blink my eyes because I know when I open them we will be packing up her room sending her off to college. She continues to be a very content baby. It has made adjusting to caring for two little ones much easier, I am so thankful for that!

Ashlyn is starting to adjust more each day. It has been such a roller coaster ride for her. She loves Aubrey to pieces but wants her old life back just as much. Ashlyn has started having little conversations with Aubrey now and will show and explain things to her, it's so precious. I just love this picture, it almost makes me cry. I am so thankful for my two girls!

Poor Aubrey girl is such a trooper! Ashlyn kisses and nearly smothers her on a daily basis. I have to keep a close eye on Aubrey and make sure she is not mothering her too much. Ashlyn is wanting to share things with her now, she even shared her beloved "gwankie" (blankie) the other day. Here is Aubrey with a Hello Kitty sticker from Nana that Ashlyn so lovingly shared!

Adjusting...

We are starting to adjust to our new life as a family of four. This past Saturday both mine and Phillip's parents were here to visit. My mom flew up before Aubrey's birth and my Dad drove up on Friday. Phillip's parents live two hours away and were here for Aubrey's birth but were not able to spend much time with Aubrey and Ashlyn since Aubrey arrived later in the afternoon, so they drove up to visit. We are so thankful for loving parents who are interested in our lives and love our girls to pieces!

My parents headed back home Tuesday morning and Phillip has been home this week to spend time with us and help me with the girls. Tuesday we spent the day at home, I was worn out from all the activities of having company and needed to rest. Wednesday I felt much better so we ventured out to run an errand and eat lunch and this morning we went to the library for story time. Ashlyn was so excited to have Daddy go with us so she could share one of her favorite activities with him. She made a cute little pumpkin for her craft and is so proud of it.

We have been trying to make Ashlyn's days as normal as possible for her. She is very loving and sweet to Aubrey but has been a bit jealous. She is not jealous of Aubrey herself, just the time she is having to share and the change in her "normal" life. She has a sassy mouth and tries to get away with little things she knows are not acceptable, but I know it is perfectly normal and it will all settle down soon.

Aubrey is such a good baby. She sleeps wonderfully and only gets up twice at night to eat. I'm hoping she continues to be laid back and happy! Ashlyn was quite "opinionated" and did not like to nap when she was an infant so I keep waiting for Aubrey to follow in her sisters path. Ha!

I have to share this sweet picture with you, just look at those sweet fat cheeks!

While I was pregnant I kept wondering if our girls would look alike. It was hard to imagine what another Johnson girl would look like. Here are pictures of the girls about the same age, what do you think?
