Shake Rattle and Roll!!

Late this morning the girls and I were playing in Aubrey's room. I was sitting on the floor and all of a sudden felt the house shake and heard a loud boom. My first thought was a plane crashed (we live near an airport) but the boom would have been louder. Then I figured it was probably just some type of construction vehicle. I went to the living room window to see if there was anything out the window, and of course nothing.

Come to find out it was a 2.5 magnitude earthquake! Who would have thought!

I'm gonna miss these days...

I'm going to be a bit sad when Ashlyn wears normal clothes everyday. When she properly matches everything and doesn't walk around the corner multiple times a day with a new "outfit".

I'm going to miss Ashlyn wanting to be me and pretend that she is Mommy and I am "Shweetie" (Sweetie-Ashlyn).

I'm going to miss the days that she thinks I'm cool and look "so cute" when I dress up.

I'm going to miss listening to Ashlyn talk when she can properly pronounce everything.
Ashlyn: Ashwen
Spaghetti: Soogetti
Him/Her: Hims/Hers
Ridiculous: De-dic-u-less (As in "Aub-wee, all this crying is de-dic-u-less")
Phillip:Phi-wup
Rebecca: Four-becca
Paisley (Nana's puppy): Pais-wee

7 Months

Aubrey you are seven months old! You are changing so fast and seem to get cuter by the day. You are such a sweet and easy baby. Your teachers in the church nursery always comment on how happy and content you are.

You weigh 14lb 15oz and are 26 inches long. Which puts you in the 20% in weight and 50% in height.
You love to suck on your thumb. You suck on your right thumb, hook your index finger over your nose, and rub the back of your head with your left hand. At first I didn't like the idea of a thumb sucker but this time around I have realized that the small things aren't worth fussing over. Besides, you look so darn cute doing it!

You are busy! You love to squirm and wiggle. Which made it harder to take your monthly picture this time. You have also started to do a little dance. I'm sure you and Ashlyn will spend many hours dancing around the house once you are up on your feet.

You are getting your first two bottom teeth. You have been working on them about a week and they are so close to breaking through. We will all be happier around here once they do. Poor baby, you have had such a rough time.

You had your first ear infection and antibiotics. The same time your two little teeth are coming in!
You are a good eater. You are nursing four times a day and eating three solid meals. You love oatmeal, but it must have fruit in it, preferably apple sauce. You love all your fruits but only care for green veggies. You give me the funniest looks when you have to eat orange vegetables.

You still love jewelry and hair. You especially love Ashlyn's because it is much easier to get to since it is longer and she is always in your face playing with you. You like to rub your hair when you suck your thumb and nurse. You also like to play with Daddy's goatee.

You are sitting up by yourself for long periods of time. You love being able to look around while you play.
You are still a good sleeper. You take two 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps and sleep from 7pm to 7am.

You are so special to us! We can't imagine what our life would be like without you!

Visitors

My parents were in town this week for a visit. Phillip was out of town so it was perfect timing for me. I always enjoy getting to visit with my parents and Ashlyn and Aubrey love the extra attention.
Saturday ended up being kind of a yucky day. It was a tiny bit chilly and drizzly all day so we just hung around the house.

Aubrey started to act like she didn't feel very well and was running a low grade fever. She had been congested for about a week and is cutting her two bottom teeth so I was afraid it had caused an ear infection. Why does it always happen on the weekends? So, Sunday morning we stayed home from church. Ashlyn went with my parents to Pet Smart while I took Aubrey to the doctor. After a quick look in her ears my suspicions were confirmed, she had her first ear infection. We were in and out of the clinic within an hour, very impressive for a walk in clinic, so Aubrey and I were able to meet my parents and Ashlyn for lunch at Bud's Chicken. After our lunch my parents took Ashlyn home so she could nap while Aubrey and I headed to Walmart to get her prescription filled. I was so thankful that my parents were able to help with Ashlyn. It would not have been such a pleasant trip taking a sleepy pre-schooler and a sick infant to the doctor and then Walmart.

Monday we went to the Promenade and shopped around a bit. My poor Dad is such a trooper! He and Ashlyn hung around the fountain a bit to keep them both entertained! When lunch time rolled around we headed to one of our favorite burger places, Ron's, where we managed to be quite the entertainers for all the patrons! Long story short, my Dad's Pepsi ended up being dumped all over Aubrey in her car seat. Poor girl had a full glass of soda and ice thrown all over her! Her little eyes got as big as saucers! She didn't make a peep though, she was actually rather thrilled to be stripped down to her diaper, re-dressed, and out of her car seat for the remainder of the meal. When we were pulling out of Ron's parking lot there were several cars trying to pull onto a very busy road during lunch time traffic. I was trying to make a right hand turn but wasn't able to see the oncoming cars on my left due to a big SUV trying to turn left. The impatient person behind me honked at my hesitation to put my family's life in danger by pulling out in front of oncoming vehicles. And without thinking I blurted "I can't see you jerk"! Ashlyn then hollers from her car seat "What's hims name mommy". Oops!! I told her "I'm not sure sweetie" hoping she would drop the subject, but she's three, like that's going to happen. So then she asked "Is hims name Joe?". Oh man!!

Tuesday was a beautiful day so we headed to Tulsa to go to the zoo. The weather was perfect and we had such a great time. Ashlyn walked about 90% of the time. I was amazed that she was able to walk that much, and stay awake the entire trip home. Might I also add that she only took one nap while my parents were here. Aubrey was still not feeling herself with those meal 'ol teeth but did really well. I think she just enjoyed the fresh air and being pushed around in her stroller.

Dancing Queen

Ashlyn loves to dance!
Ashlyn loves dresses!
Ashlyn loves Dancing with the Stars!
Ashlyn thinks she looks like the dancers on Dancing with the Stars when she dresses up!
Ashlyn ranks her dresses on their twirl-ability!

So you can imagine the thrill she got when I told her she could wear this when we made a quick trip to drop off a clothing donation to Helping Hands, which did not require the girls getting out of the van.

Oh, and the story behind the boots... I went through everyone's closet getting ready for our spring/summer clothes. I was packing up Ashlyn's winter stuff to store for Aubrey and she was not pleased that I was packing her stuff away. She was especially attached to her boots. So, I let her keep those out a while longer. I kept her jeans and leggings out to wear with short sleeve shirts and dresses for cooler days so I have to add them to the box in a month or so anyways, so why not just add the boots then. She has worn them every day since.

She is such a sweet heart and getting so big!

A couple weeks ago we were at Target and the three of us were in the dressing room while I was trying on some clothes. I tried on a skirt that "twirled" (in Ashlyn's words). She was so thrilled that I was trying on such a cute skirt and squealed "Ooo, you look cute Mommy, twirl around and let me see your skirt". And of course I did!

She loves to compliment Phillip and I, it is the sweetest thing. Her favorite is to tell me that I'm a good cook. She always says "Mom, your a good cook to (whatever we are eating)". My favorite so far is "Mom, your a good cook to Rice Krispies and Milk".

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! Friday Ashlyn and I dyed Easter eggs. She loves any type of craft or hands on activity so of course she had a wonderful time. She was so proud of them! Poor girl is just like her momma, neither one of us had a drop of dye on our hands when we were done, we don't like to have dirty hands!

Decorating the eggs with crayon first - it takes a lot of concentration

Arranging the eggs by color

Saturday we just spent the day together. We went to JcPenney to buy some much needed new luggage. They were having a big sale and we got a great deal. The set we had Phillip got as a graduation gift from his grandparents eleven years ago. Phillip hauled the luggage around with him when he was on the road with Waterdeep and now when he travels for work or I fly to my parents. It's too bad you pay so much for nice luggage only to fly with it once and have the baggage handlers in the airport tear it up.

Sunday morning we went to church to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior. It was neat seeing Ashlyn learn about Easter and try to wrap her little pre-school mind around it. We did the Resurrection Eggs together this year. There are twelve eggs and inside the eggs are a little item that goes along with the Easter story, telling the story from Jesus riding into Jerusalem to the tomb being empty.

She is getting so big. She is such a beautiful little girl!

Happy Aubrey! Her Grandpa is right, she has happy eyes when she smiles.

She looked so cute in the bonnet Grandma crocheted.

After nap time we hunted Easter eggs in the back yard. It was so windy but the sun was out so it wasn't too bad.

Checking out all the loot!
