Going to the Chapel and We're Gonna Get Married...

Last Thursday we headed to Austin Texas for my brother's wedding. We had all been anxiously waiting for this weekend but Ashlyn was the most excited. She was going to be the flower girl.

Since Aaron and Kristine's wedding was on Easter weekend they had a little Easter egg hunt after the rehearsal dinner. The girl's had a blast!
Aubrey didn't really know what was going on, she was too young last year to remember anything, so she just did as all the big kids did. Run around with your basket and look for little plastic eggs. When she found her first egg she was thrilled to find chocolate and was perfectly content with her one egg. But Momma made her get up and find more! ;)

Ashlyn was of course a seasoned pro!

The girls were so excited to see their Nana and Pawpaw!

The next morning Ashlyn and Nana went to the beauty shop to get their hair fixed. Ashlyn was on cloud nine! I have always trimmed her hair at home but she loves to watch me get my hair cut on the rare occasions she goes with me. She sat down in the chair and whispered to me, "Momma look, I have a cape like you wear". Sweet girl!

I caught Aaron taking his wedding gift for Kristine to her maid of honor. I may have gotten a lump in my throat when I saw him. He's no longer the pesky little boy who sucks his thumb. Well, he hasn't been that in a long long time but goodness, when did he grow up to be a handsome man!

The wedding was an afternoon wedding outside at a really neat tucked away spot in Austin. Kristine and her mom did a beautiful job! Her mom grew dozens and dozens of Orchids for the wedding. It was very simple but oh so elegant!

My beautiful little girl!

Ashlyn is very quiet and reserved and does not like any attention from people she does not know. People kept questioning whether Ashlyn would walk down the isle or freeze up and just stand there. One of the qualities I love about Ashlyn is when she sets her mind to something, she's gonna do it. She'll toss her fears and anxieties to the side and go for it. And this was one of those times, she did a beautiful job! When she got about 3/4 of the way down the isle she ran out of flowers, which happened to be right in front of my seat. She looked in her basket with frustration turned it upside down, looked at me, then shrugged her shoulders and kept on walking the rest of the way. :)

You can tell by the small grin on his face that he sees his bride walking toward the isle.
The pastor that married Aaron and Kristine also married Phillip and I. He was our pastor growing up.
He and his wife were so kind to make the drive from our home town to Austin.

Kristine looked beautiful, of course! She is such a sweet sweet girl and will take good care of Aaron! My girls think she is the best thing ever!

Aubrey was very good sitting next to me the whole time! She was spoiled rotten by her Great Aunt Jan before the wedding started so that helped get some of her energy out.

All the pretty girls! The brides maids were so sweet to Ashlyn and she loved being around them.

Saying their vows.

And the best part...

Aaron threw in a surprise and dipped Kristine and gave her a big kiss! I love it!!

These girls love their Pawpaw and Nana!

Aaron and his guys. Two of these guys were his friends since Elementary!

Getting to hold the brides maid's flowers during pictures. That's a big deal when your 5 and 2 years old! I love that the ring bearer is sucking his thumb. Tired boy!

Getting to dance with Pawpaw at the reception was one of the highlights of the evening!

 Ashlyn's Wish List
✓ Get hair done at a beauty shop
✓ Wear a fluffy dress
✓ Be a flower girl
✓ Dance at a real dance, not just at home in dress up clothes

Ashlyn was one happy girl that day!

The silly girl wanted to take off her flower girl dress and change into a normal dress so she could run around and get dirty with the ring bearer. She surprises me sometimes!!

I do believe the most memorable event of the reception was when the ring bearer dropped his pants and started peeing in the bushes. I'm pretty sure that's the fastest his Daddy has ever ran, trying to get across the lawn to him and get his pants back up. The poor innocent boy is NEVER going to live that down!

Catching in a little bit of snuggle time with Uncle Aaron.

I didn't catch any pictures of them going away since it was dark when they left. Plus I was too busy positioning myself where I could pelt my little brother with a good handful of bird seed on his way out. I'm proud to admit I was one of the first in line and I accomplished my mission. Yes Aaron, that was me that splatted your left cheek so well! Love you! ;)

Nana was quick to ditch her heels and Aubrey was thrilled to try them on after she changed into her jammies for the night.

It was a busy and wonderful weekend!
