Mile High City

A couple weeks ago Phillip and I got a nice little getaway. He called me one morning from work and told me that he just found out he would be flying to Denver in two weeks. Leaving literally the day he was getting back from another out of town commitment. But the kicker was, I was going too and the bambinas were going to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

We left Arkansas around 8pm after a couple hour delay in Fort Smith and finally landed in Denver around 1am Monday morning. My eyes haven't seen 1am since I was nursing a baby! I'm sure everyone around me wondered what ran me over! Ha!

We kind of slept in the next morning. I guess, sleeping in until 8 o'clock isn't really sleeping in but when you're parents it's quite refreshing! We ate breakfast at an amazing local joint called Snooze, a must eat if you're ever in Denver! After our late breakfast we headed down town so Phillip could meet up with his team and work for a couple hours while I hung out. I had great intentions of shopping and site seeing but I only got one block down the road and stopped into a frozen yogurt place then headed back to our hotel for a nap. It was blissful! :)

Phillip only had to work one day so the next morning we were free to do what ever our hearts desired. We rented a car and headed down toward the Colorado Springs area.

Once we got into town we headed over to Pikes Peak. We took the cog rail all the way up the mountain and had the best time!

The view from Pikes Peak is amazing.

I just love this guy!

After our adventure up the mountain we checked into The Cliff House, a quaint 1800's hotel in Manitou Springs, to rest and cool off.

After a short nap we drove a couple minutes over to Garden of the gods. We decided to drive through and just get out for pictures rather than walk through. It was so stink'n hot! We felt like we were back home in Arkansas!

Then for dinner we met up with my Uncle Jack and Aunt Deb who live in Colorado Springs. We ate delicious Italian then went to an ice cream shoppe for dessert. We really enjoyed catching up and visiting with them!

Wednesday we got back in our car for a day full of road tripping. We drove to Breckenridge first.

While in Breckenridge we at lunch and rode the lifts up the mountain and walked around town. After a couple hours there we headed back to Denver, stopping along the way for more pictures and site seeing. We had the best time driving around, just the two of us. We could chat without being interrupted or sit and enjoy the silence! It was amazing!

Thursday mid-morning it was time to pack up and head back home to reality. Reality hit pretty quick when we landed and realized our luggage didn't board the plane like we did in Dallas and wouldn't be in our hands until mid-day the next day. Oh, well... such is life! :)

Our little get away was so refreshing! The past three months have been so, so busy. With buying and selling a home, packing, moving, many work travel dates for Phillip, Aubrey waking up randomly in the middle of the night then again before the alarm clock goes off for a month solid, on top of every day life, I was worn out. Thank you so very much Grandma and Grandpa for keeping the girls! I hope you've recuperated! ;)

So glad that y'all got to get away by yourselves, sounds like you had a lot of fun. So glad y'all got to do that before the fires started.
