We arrived Thursday evening and Ashlyn got to open up her birthday presents from Grandpa and Grandma and her Aunts and Uncles. I'm sure Ashlyn thinks we celebrate the 8 days of Hanukkah with all the gift opening she gets to do this time of the year! We didn't do anything spectacular for New Years eve. We juts hung out together and chatted. Well actually, Dana and I decided we wanted to learn how to crochet about a month ago so we both showed up to the Johnson house with a needle and yarn eager to learn a new skill. So Dana and I crocheted while the guys made fun of us the whole time. I guess you're getting old when you crochet into the new year!! I'm actually really enjoying it now. I made a cute little hat and am now working on a scarf. Don't worry friends, I won't be making you any crochet coasters for your birthday. I've made a vow not to crochet any granny projects!
Friday morning we woke up and exchanged Christmas gifts.
Then the girls worked in the kitchen preparing our meal while the kids played together with their new toys. Ashlyn really enjoyed playing with Benjamin and Adyson. She loves playing with older kids and they were so sweet to include her in all the fun!
Dana and Doug had to be back in Texas by Sunday so they left Saturday morning. We were able to stay through the rest of the weekend and visit with Phillip's parents. We went out to dinner that night and Phillip's parents took the girls home while Phillip and I went out for coffee. It was nice to have a little bit of alone time. Something that hasn't happened since Aubrey was born.
And just for a good laugh, I had to share this picture.
