Dr, Dr, and more Dr

Yesterday I went to the dentist. I don't think I have really shared my dentist "story". When I was pregnant with Aubrey I had my bi-annual cleaning and they found some cavities. So, after she was born I scheduled to go back for x-rays and have the cavities fixed. I went in the day before Thanksgiving and had half of them filled, the others were scheduled for a different day since they were on the other side of my mouth and they don't numb your whole mouth for safety reasons. To make a long story short I kept having pain in those teeth when I would chew and had to go back for two adjustments to try to get them smoothed down, which didn't help. Sooo, yesterday I went back and they decided my teeth were reacting to the type of filling they did and they would need to drill out two of the fillings, put in temporary fillings which contains a medication to calm the nerves, and then re-do the fillings in a couple weeks with a different type of filling. Can I just take a moment to tell you how much I HATE going to the dentist!?! So having to do two sessions of fillings and now two more sessions to correct the problem almost sends me over the edge. I may or may not have given the dentist and his assistant the evil eye the entire time they were drilling on my teeth yesterday!

Today the girls had their well child check ups. It honestly feels like Ashlyn was just doing all of her bi-monthly check ups with shots and now she stands on the scale by herself, gets her blood pressure taken, and her baby sister is the one laying on the table stripped down to her diaper. Ashlyn was 30 pounds and 37 inches tall. She has climbed the chart into the 30th percentile for her age, which is a little bit of a jump since she has always been in the teens. She is still quite petite but her Dr said she is perfectly healthy. About 9 months ago we noticed her feet were quite flat and her ankles turned in. She never complains about her feet hurting so we just made a note to ask about it at her 3 year check up. Dr Faddis was a little concerned with her ankles turning in so much, especially her right one so we are going to see an Orthopedist next week. He doesn't think anything surgically will need to be done but maybe something minor like shoe inserts.
Aubrey was 13 pounds 5 ounces and was 25 inches long. She is also in the 30th percentile. She is bigger than Ashlyn was by about two pounds and one and a half inches. Poor girl had to skip nap time and then got three shots so she let them know she wasn't pleased about the situation!

Ashlyn also has her first dentist appointment next week. She thinks she has arrived! She had her blood pressure taken today like Mommy did at all those OB appointments she tagged along to and now gets to go to the dentist. She went with me to the dentist for one of my adjustments so she got to see me lay in a chair and open my mouth for the dentist. I think going and watching me first has eased her nerves about the dentist. After my adjustment, Stake n Shake had their happy hour going on so we went across the street for a half price chocolate shake to reward her for being so good, her very first I might add, so she remembers you get shakes after going to the dentist. Thank goodness her appointment is right in time for happy hour so we can get shakes again. We just won't tell the dentist we're going out for a sugary treat!
