This week Phillip made a quick overnight business trip. I told Ashlyn that her and I could have a slumber party when Daddy was gone. She was so excited, even though she didn't quite know what that meant!
After I put Aubrey to bed we rented a movie off iTunes and popped popcorn. After the movie she got to sleep in bed with me. As we were crawling into bed she said "let's say our prayers together". So sweet! Obviously girls naturally know you are supposed to talk non-stop for hours on end about nothing after the lights are turned out because she was little chatty Cathy! After about fifteen minutes of literally non-stop talking I had to tell her to go to sleep. I was surprised at how well I slept! I tried to let her sleep with me a couple months ago and after her sleeping on top of my head for two hours I took her back to her own bed. This time I placed a pillow in between us and that seemed to keep her on her side of the bed.
The next night Phillip was coming in late but Ashlyn still wanted to party. Poor girl was disappointed when we didn't get to eat popcorn and watch a movie again! When I went to tuck her in bed I noticed her alarm clock was missing off of her dresser. When I asked her where it was she said "by your bed". I walked into my room and saw that she had pushed my alarm clock to the side and her's was sitting in it's place. I think we will definitely do it again!
We have had a busy week hanging out with friends. We went to the pool twice with friends, which was so nice to beat the heat. We also went to Jump Zone with Beth and Makenna. Ashlyn loves Jump Zone! It was nuts!! We normally go during the school year which is much much calmer. Aubrey had fun hanging out in her stroller watching all the kids run around. She was entertained the full two hours! Then Friday night we went to a new park here in town with an amphitheater with some good friends. The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast chasing each other around while us grown ups chatted and listened to a local Jazz band play.
This morning it was just the girls and I at church. I was sitting by myself and when the service was about to start two cute young girls turned around and said hi and asked how old I was. I was a little surprised by the question, I haven't been asked that as an "opening line" in a long time. I bravely sputtered 29, knowing they were quite younger than me and would think I was OLD, then they went on to tell me they just graduated and were new in town for their first job. I had to smile to myself, they assumed I was their age! I guess after two kiddos and on the brink of senior citizenship I still got it. ;) I really doubt they knew how much they made my day! Little did they know Tuesday when I get my haircut I'll be discussing with my stylist highlights vs hair dye to cover the multiplying gray hairs that have shown up since Aubrey's birth.

That last paragraph really had me laughing! :) So are you going to go gothic and dye your hair jet black? LOL
LOL, I love all of your stories. When I use to sub at Pettus, most of the elem. students always thought I was in my 20s! So you've still got it Becca. And I found my first grey hair when I was 29 too. Brandy and I stay in touch quite often.
we were at that Jazz Band concert Friday with my grandparents! Can't believe we missed each other. :(
Ditto your mom!! I love your stories and am disappointed when I check your blog and nothing new is there!
LOL Rebecca! I had a teenager ask me if I was 25 last week. Needless to say she's my new best friend!! We're still working it girl!! BTW...Highlights are the way to go! Adyson and I had a slumber party a few weeks ago as well. Thanks for the pillow idea. Most of the night was spent with her feet in my face. Not my idea of a good nights sleep!
