My Parents

This past week we enjoyed a visit from my parents. We had a wonderful time hanging out together and the girls enjoyed being spoiled and showing off for them!

My parents drove in Saturday afternoon and surprised us with a Big Green Egg (Smoker & Grill). We put it right to work and grilled chicken for dinner. We are anxious to put it to the test some more and are already making a list of what we want to grill and smoke next!


On Sunday we drove up to Jasper and enjoyed the outdoors together. The weather was great! It rained off and on but cleared up when we were outdoors. We ate lunch at The Cliff House when we first got there. It is a good home cooking restaurant that is located right on the side of the mountain. They have a patio right outside the dining area that has a wonderful view!!


After lunch we headed out to a trail to walk and spent most of our time by the river.

Ashlyn enjoyed picking up rocks, finding just the right one. After walking we settled into a small camping area and grilled hot dogs and ate watermelon. After dinner we were all pooped so we loaded up and headed home. The girls did great and loved being outside. Aubrey only had two short naps in the car but was as happy as could be. It was such a fun day!

The rest of the week we kept busy with a trip to the mall and ice cream for a cold treat.

And, sitting in Pawpaw's pick up. Ashlyn loves Pawpaw's truck! My Dad would literally back down the drive way and then pull back in while letting Ashlyn sit next to him and she thought it was the best thing ever!


While my parents were here Ashlyn got a surprise package in the mail from one of my mom's best friend from high school. A boa! It was the best surprise and matches her high heels perfectly!

My parents headed home this morning. I think Ashlyn is starting to realize there is always a long distance between visits from Pawpaw and Nana because she kept telling me that she is going to miss them when they leave. She woke up very early this morning and was sitting on her bed with her lamp on listening to her music because she wanted to make sure she was able to say bye to them before they left, poor girl. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to their visit again!
