Wow, it's already the end of the first week of January. What a crazy but fantastic two weeks of Christmas we had! After our Christmas company left I recouped from all the hustle and bustle, then the MacBook's hard drive was on the fritz so I was banned from using it until my super talented hubby could fix it, then it was time to take down the Christmas decorations, then it was time to potty train Aubrey, then Aubrey caught a stomach bug, and then that leads us to today. I'm using nap time to rest and catch up!
Our Christmas celebrations started a couple days before Christmas in Mountain View at my in-laws house. All but Phillip's brother and his family were able to make it. We all had a wonderful time but it's never quite the same when someone is missing!
(I got a new lens for Christmas from Phillip so I was trying to learn and adjust to it and unfortunately a lot of my pictures were blurry. Not horrible just not very clear. So, there aren't too many pictures to share.)
We started out the morning opening our stockings.
Grandpa helping Aubrey and Joel.
After opening our stockings and eating breakfast casserole the highlight of our morning happened... The trash man drove through the street collecting the weekly trash. Yes, this is the trash truck! I about died!!
(Walton, the collector's head is down in this picture. He did not see Dana and I acting like a bunch of fools with our camera.)
After breakfast we opened our gifts.
All the kids lined up waiting to open their first gift from Grandpa and Grandma. There are nine grandkids and they all play so well together.
The two "babies" got AquaDoodle floor mats. They were a huge hit with the kids and since they are mess free the mommas loved them too!
There are six grandkids that have a matching age cousin to play with.
The two older girls, the middle girls (Ashlyn's age), and the two
toddlers (Aubrey's age). It's fun watching them play and also so sweet
to see the two older girls play so sweetly with the middle girls. It
will be interesting to see how Aubrey and Joel's relationship play out.
Aubrey is very much a girl and Joel is all boy. But, for the time being
they are content to play and share Grandma's lap together.
My in-laws celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in December. My two sister-in-laws made a cake for them so we could all celebrate. It was the best chocolate cake! The recipe is from here.
