Five

On December 29 my sweet precious girl turned five. Turning five has been a very much anticipated milestone for Ashlyn. Five means you are a big girl and you get to go to kindergarten. Although a couple weeks before her birthday she started to get a little uneasy about turning five. She would tell us she didn't want to be five, she liked being four and wanted to stay little. She would also question if she would still be the same size and if some of her favorite clothes would fit. I think she expected life to be drastically different when she woke up on her birthday. It took a bit of encouraging then she quickly forgot about getting too big too soon and is now loving being five!

Ashlyn is such a precious girl. I see so much of myself in her! She is very quiet, shy, introverted, yet strong willed, and determined. She likes things done a certain way and wants to do them herself. She has such a gentle spirit and is very kind and well behaved.

Ashlyn loves to learn and be creative. She will sit at the kitchen table for hours, literally, and color and draw. She loves to color princesses, butterflies, rainbows, and flowers. She is all girl in every aspect of her life! She can recognize all her letters of the alphabet, write all her upper and lower case letters, tell you the sound of the letter and can identify the first letter of words. She is showing an interest in wanting to read words so we are going to start on some reading skills.

Ashlyn loves clothes and shoes. She wants to pick out her outfits and has a definite opinion on what I buy for her. She wants dresses and skirts. She loves tights and leggings. Her favorite shoes are her little silver ballet style flats and her red glitter shoes. She would wear pink head to toe if I didn't encourage her to add some variety! She begs to wear her fancy dresses daily! It's such a fine line of letting her develop her own sense of style and building her self esteem through her personal choices and not letting her embarrass herself. ;)

She is a wonderful big sister to Aubrey. She loves to teach her new things! She is very sweet to help her with simple little tasks and has been such an encourager to Aubrey as we are potty training. They are the best of friends but can also fight like the best of them!
