She sucks her right thumb, props her index finger on her nose and twirls her hair with her left hand. And if you ever happen to be so lucky, she will twirl your hair if she's snuggled up to you just right.
When she was three months old I found her fast asleep on her play mat sucking her thumb. I tried hard to keep that thumb out and replace it with paci.
You can throw pacies away, thumbs are attached.
Oh, those precious rolls and extra fluff!
Then over time the thumb sucking kinda stole my heart and I gave up on the idea of a paci.
I think there is a special little feeling that only momma's with a thumb sucker feel. It's the warmest most precious feeling when your little thumb sucker sticks that thumb in her mouth and props that index finger over their button nose and nestles her head on your shoulder.
Thumb suckers seem to have their own little world. As soon as the thumb hits that tongue their eyes soften and they give a little sigh. Oh, to be able to feel that warm and cozy so instantly!
Now that Aubrey is talking fluently and carrying on conversations, her thumb sucking often becomes the topic of conversation between Ashlyn and Aubrey.
If Aubrey is crying and carrying on about something, Ashlyn will tell her to put her thumb in her mouth!
Ashlyn fell and was crying, not because she injured herself but because she is a bit, dare I say... dramatic. Aubrey was trying to comfort her and asked if she needed to suck her thumb! Ashlyn was very offended.
From the back seat of the car I heard Ashlyn ask Aubrey if her thumb was good. I didn't hear a response but I know for a fact she nodded her head. Ashlyn then asked if it had sugar on it! :)
Enjoy that thumb while you can sweet girl because some day you'll have to give it up. And baby, momma will be crying right along with you when that day arrives!

Sure do love that thumb sucking baby girl, and her big sister too!:)
You know, Wilson does the SAME thing! He'll ask me to play with his curls too, even when he's not sucking his thumb. :)
