Hooray for the weekend!

This week was a rather crazy week. Ashlyn is cutting two teeth, Phillip is trying to recover from jet lag, I had my 28th birthday on the 28th, and it has been rainy all week which means we have been stuck inside.
Poor Ashlyn has not been a very happy girl this week. She gets so grouchy and just rolls around on the floor in pain. You can literally give her Tylenol, look at the clock and 15 minutes later she will get up off the floor and be a completely different person.
Thursday for lunch we went to Chick-fil-A to get out of the house and let Ashlyn run around in the play area. There were a couple kids in the play area that had ice cream cones, which is against the rules. Ashlyn saw their treat and kept asking for an ice cream cone. We had to go to Walmart anyways so I told her we would get some to eat at home. After we got the things I needed we picked out the cones, which she held so proudly, then made our way to the frozen food isle. I figured out of the 20 foot section of ice cream I could definitely find something non-dairy. After searching about five minutes I found some Haagen Dazs strawberry sorbet! It was a tiny container and extremely over priced but I didn't care, my baby girl was going to have an ice cream cone! She absolutely loved it!

She had soy ice cream about a year ago at Grandma and Grandpa's but didn't care for it much. It has taken her a while to develop a taste for sweets. I found a couple recipes on-line for some sorbet I think I will try. It will actually be a rather healthy treat for the summer since it is mostly fruit puree and fruit juices. I'll have to let you know if I find a good one.
Ashlyn has been big into playing "haircut" and wanting her hair blow dried lately. She has been with me multiple times to get my haircut and sits and watches in fascination the whole time. She also had a trim herself about two months ago in an attempt to get her poor thin hair to have some type of shape. As you can tell by most of her pictures, it didn't help much. The past couple mornings she wants to sit on the stool on my bathroom and have her hair "blow and hair prayed". So we settle for a water bottle then the blow dryer. Today she called Daddy in the bathroom to "dwatch" her. She thinks she is so big and wanted her favorite person in the world to ooh and awe over her. I keep thinking maybe she will start keeping a bow in her hair, but it hasn't happened yet.
Tonight Phillip and I went out on a date. Once a quarter our church has Parents Night Out where you can pay an extremely small fee and leave your kids for several hours. It was great to hang out together after the busy couple weeks we have had apart. We went and ate dinner, went to a coffee house, then went to Sams to pick up some things. Yes, we went to Sams on our date! I find it absolutely enjoyable to stroll through the store with out saying "ok sit down, we're going to move" or "no, get your finger out of the grapes/strawberries/bananas (etc)".
We sat at the Coffee house on our MacBook looking for baby names. We are having a harder time picking out a name this time around. We don't want anything matchy matchy, you know that rhymes with Ashlyn, and you can't choose a name that reminds you of another bratty kid. You also have to make sure the initials don't mean anything derogatory so they don't get made fun of in junior high. Hopefully we can narrow it down to a couple we like soon. We have our ultrasound Wednesday to find out what we are having! We are excited!

I'm so happy that Ashlyn was able to eat an ice cream cone. Grandad will be jealous that he didn't get to teach her.(Family humor)

Yum! That sounds like a flavor I'll have to buy for the three of us. That is so cute that Ashlyn is wanting to fix her hair in front of the mirror and daddy. Madelyn actually wore a headband this morning ... it is the first time we have been able to keep anything in her hair since she was a baby. Maybe we are making progress. I can't wait to find out what ya'll are having! Were ya'll finally successful in picking out names?

You guys our the finest parents I know. You have been blessed with such an adorable and well-mannered little girl, I can't wait to meet your next little one.

Your birthday was mine and Aubrey's 2 1/2 year Anniversary. A great holiday to share with a birthday girl.

28 on the 28th! Fantastic. I hit 15 on the 15th next year. HAHAHA
