Ashlyn,
My sweet precious girl you are four years old today. Four years ago at this very moment I was at the hospital waiting for you to arrive. You came as a surprise to Daddy and I since you weren't supposed to be here for another three weeks. I couldn't wait to hold you in my arms and see your sweet face. I knew you would be beautiful, because you were mine, you were God's most precious gift to me. After a hour and a half of physical exhaustion you arrived and were perfect in every way. I loved you from the moment I found out I was pregnant with you but after holding you for the first time, I loved you even more.

The first two months of your life were the hardest times for me. You were a very fussy baby and cried all the time. You woke up every two hours to eat and would take a hour to eat. I was only getting one hour naps in at night. You also would not nap. I was not able to lay down and nap nor eat a full lunch because you would be up crying fifteen minutes later. I was physically exhausted and didn't know how to make you sleep. After many, many days of lovingly letting you cry yourself to sleep you realized how wonderful sleep was and you napped and slept like a champ. Even during those hard hard days of both of us bawling out of sheer exhaustion, I never stopped loving you, I always loved you.

You have always been a quiet observer. It takes you a while to warm up to people and you want to take in your surroundings before you jump in. You are full of personality and spunk. You love to sing, dance, dress up, and be silly. You say and do the funniest things that make Daddy and I laugh all the time. You are so smart. You love to learn and take things in. We are so proud of you.

You are very tender hearted and so loving. It is a special gift God has given you. I know He is going to use your sweet spirit and tender heart for His glory.

Ashlyn, your are such a wonderful sister to Aubrey. She looks up to you and watches your every move. She loves to imitate you and do things just like you. You are so sweet to let her play in your room and play so gently with her. My prayer is that you will be the best of friends your whole life.

I can't believe you are already four years old. I often feel like just moments ago you were toddling around the house. You have grown so much and I couldn't be more proud of you. You are my best little buddy and I love that you want to do things with me. I know God has big plans for your life and will use you in wonderful ways. Ashlyn, I love you with all my heart and that will never change. You will always be my sweet precious girl.
Love,
Mommy
