Early Birthday Present!

Ashlyn loves anything girlie!
Any type of jewelry fits into the girlie category.
She has been asking about having earrings for a while but we wanted to wait until she was old enough to handle getting them pierced, knowing it was going to hurt, and also take care of them and not try to take them out. So, Daddy decided earrings would be the perfect birthday gift this year. We let her get them early so she could show them off to her Grandparents at Christmas time.

We talked about getting earrings for a full week. I told her several times about how they put the earrings in and that it would be a big shot. She didn't mind, she wanted them bad! She had even decided what kind of earrings she wanted. Diamonds! Phillip had to fan himself when she announced she wanted diamonds. He immediately said "how does she know what diamonds are?". I had to explain that she is a girl and we're born knowing these kinds of things.

So, Friday night after Phillip got home from work we made an evening out of it! We went to the mall and she got to pick out her earrings. The big diamond ones!! She hopped right up in the chair without batting an eye.

Once they started marking her ears and getting everything out she started shaking like a leaf. Poor girl! She refused to sit in my lap though. She wanted to do it by herself! So I squatted down in front of her.

One, two, three... The first twinge of pain.

Now, that really hurt!

Being brave as they clean her earrings!

After we got her earrings we ate at Steak and Shake, one of her and Daddy's favorites. She was so proud of her earrings during dinner! We kept ooing and aweing over them and commenting on how they sparkle in the light. She was on cloud nine!
