Ashlyn's Pet

Ashlyn absolutely loves this little cotton tail rabbit that lives in our backyard, I have mentioned it before, the one she so fondly named it ra-ra. Last week I made a salad with our dinner and finished up the head of lettuce I was using so her and Phillip took the remaining stalk outside for ra-ra to "have for dinner". I'm sure that rabbit took one sniff of it and realized there was a human sent on it and turned it's nose up at it. The stalk has stayed in the back yard since then and daily Ashlyn checks to see if it is still there and is rather concerned that ra-ra has not eaten his salad, as she calls it.
The other night we had a pretty good thunder storm come through right before Phillip and I were heading for bed. I always check in on Ashlyn before getting in bed and I guess the loud claps of thunder had woken her because when I opened her door she picked her head up. I rubbed her back and told her to go back to sleep but she looked up at me and said "Mommy, ra-ra he wet". Sweet girl was concerned her little buddy was in the storm! I told her that ra-ra was under the shed sleeping and would stay dry. She asked "he hiding" and I said yes he's hiding and that satisfied her enough and she went back to sleep.
We played in the backyard yesterday and of course she tried to coax him out, as she always does. I'm sure that rabbit rolls his eyes when he sees her trotting across the yard over to his hiding spot. I need to get a picture of her when she does this. She squats with her hands on her knees and her little diaper butt sticking up in the air and hollers for him to come here so she can hold him, it's a sight!
Something makes me think her little brother or sister will often crawl under the table to hide from their "motherly" sister and she will be hollering for them to come here so she can hold them!
