Temporarily on Hold

Well, the potty training is on hold for right now. Ashlyn decided yesterday that she didn't like the potty "game" anymore. Her response to me gently instructing her to get on the potty was either running away and hiding or saying "no" with a look of -nah, that's alright thanks for asking though. Since my energy level is at about nothing I decided it would be best to just bring the diapers back out and try again when I have the energy to run a household and potty train a toddler. I figure a clean house, food on the table, and washed and ironed clothes for my daughter and hubby (ironed clothes for Phillip not Ashlyn, for those of you who thought I had gone off the deep end) should be top priority right now. She has also been acting a little under the weather. She ran a fever Wednesday and has been clingy and asking for medicine. I think her little tooth that has been trying to emerge the last month is finally breaking though. So, this was probably bad timing all the way around. I will gladly admit, I am not super mom!
After our nap today I was craving Ice Cream and we didn't have any here at home. So Ashlyn and I went to Sonic for an Ice Cream cone and juice for her since she cant have ice cream. Phillip was on his way home from work so we ordered him a Strawberry Limeade and he met us there. Ashlyn loved her juice. It was in a big girl cup with a straw and was straight up, not the watered down stuff Mommy gives her at home. Phillip gave her a sip of his drink and she hated it. She has never had soda before so she didn't like the carbonation. She rubbed her tongue and said "no sant soo". It was too cute!

Tonight we ate dinner at the Wingards. Kelly made a really good chicken dish! She coated chicken breasts with honey mustard and crushed up garlic flavored melba toast, it was really yummy! They have a little girl who is four so Ashlyn had fun playing with all of her baby dolls and kitchen toys.

We tried potty training TWICE before Emma Kate was born... and Drew would do really good the first few days and then get totally bored with the idea. I was about to go crazy! We kept talking about it and reading books about it! About a week after Emma Kate was born... He decided, on his own, he was ready to do it. It was the easiest thing EVER and he was completely potty trained in a week. I bought a DVD off of Amazon called "Potty Power"... I think it encouraged Drew to give the potty another shot. ;)
